2013 – The Year in Review

January 2, 2014 by Thorin Gault D.C.

It is that time of year again where we take stock of what has occurred over the past 12 months and to decide on the direction we will take in the future.

2013 was a bit of a whirlwind in our office, with lots of seminars, some new programs for our patients and practice members and for the first time since I opened Gault Family Chiropractic on the corner of Fifth and Marlborough Streets on August 14th, 2000…we changed our name!

We made the decision to change the name of our office to Nexus Chiropractic for several reasons. The first is that the office has grown to a point that it is beyond just me. Adele and Cindy, in addition to the other doctors who cover for me while away are integral to the quality care we deliver, yet their last names are not ‘Gault.’

I have also been casually looking for the right doctor to join the practice and understandably, if my name is on the door it could affect the way people perceive them.

Finally, Nexus is just a cool name and the name change gave us an opportunity to order some very cool bags, mugs, water bottle and other swag.

This year we continued develop new workshops and programs to help our patients get the most out of their care and lives. We refined our Best Year of Your Life workshop to make it even more profound. The 2014 version will be even better and is scheduled for Tuesday, Jan. 28th at 7pm.

We also added a workshop called The Fireside Chat, which replaced our previous Intermediate and Advanced workshop. I give a short presentation on what is new and important and then open the floor up to questions about anything you want to know more about. I also demonstrate when applicable. Our next Chat is Feb. 25th.

In addition to our full day Clear Days, we also continued with our Breakthrough Morning/Evening programs which take place in smaller, more intimate groups over the course of 4-5 hours.

In 2013 I had the opportunity to speak to several outside groups about health and healing. The highlights were packed crowds at both Vankleek Hill’s Interesting People series where I spoke about Reorganizational Healing and Cornwall’s Encore Seniors’ group where I spoke about functioning well with arthritis.

A personal highlight for me this year was competing at the World Masters’ Weightlifting Championship in Torino, Italy in August after winning the Canadian Championship in June. Thank you to everyone for all of the encouragement and support and a huge thanks to Drs. Amanda and Tony for providing great care to everyone while I was away.

Another highlight is being asked to be part of a committee with the task of defining different membership levels of the newly formed ARHP(Association for Reorganizational Healing Practices).

As always, we have been and will continue to refine and improve our clinical and communication skills to provide world-class care right here in Cornwall. This is why I fly all over the world studying and taking seminars multiple times per year. My next trip will be to Denver in just a few weeks for an advanced technique seminar.

It may seem obvious, but the reason all of this happens is that we love working with our patients and practice members. Yes, this is a job – a job I love and am passionate about. Thank you all so much for being a part of something great.

It is the start of a new year. We look forward to helping to make it a great one for you and your loved ones.
